Watercooling CPU + GPU is it worth it?

Hi everyone,

My build is as follows

Asus z87 Expert Motherboard
Intel Core i-5 4770K CPU
2x Samsung Evo 120gb SSD's
2x Normal hard drives (1tb + 2tb)
Blu ray/CD/DVD W/RW optical drive
2x GTX 770 4gb in SLI
Assorted PCI slot cards (sound card, tv tuner)
4x 120mm/ 140mm case fans
Triple Monitor: 3x Asus 23" 1ms ones

My question is this, Is it worth me researching and learning how to setup custom water cooling loops (case allows for 240mm slot so was thinking 1 120mm radiator for cpu and another for gpu's) or should I stick with a already made Corsair hydro water cooler for CPU only.

Regards,

Ben

Solution
Depends on a few things.
1) are you willing to put that much money into buying blocks for the GPU and the rest of the kit.
2)are you thinking of doing some serious heavy OC work and also heavy use.
3) are the ambient temps by you high enough to where you think air cooling isn't enough.

Personally, since you already have CPU water cooling, I'd say you should be able to keep your cards cool enough on air. If you think your case doesn't have enough air movement, the money is probably better spent on a better case than custom water cooling. Unless you're trying to OC the living hell out of those GPUs, then I'd say air is fine.

Thanks for your reply

My overclock will likely extend to CPU And no further, and my case is full tower with plenty of room for air flow and decent fans.

I didn't think there would be a problem just that a few people had expressed worries that with SLI, one card will be blowing the heat direct on to the other and as such will heat up rapidly and dangerously.

The heaviest use the GPU's will be under is the triple monitor gaming.

Thanks for clearing it up

Regards

they don't blow hot air right on eachother, the cards intake from their face and exhaust to the sides and rear of the case. One card usually gets hotter, the top card, because it's drawing air in across the other card, so it is picking up some of the exhaust of the other.
