I need to convert a ribbon data cable to a SATA connection on the motherboard for 2 optical drives and a HDD. What is the cheapest and most effective way to do this? Thanks.
Highly recommend only using that if you have to. The HDD could fail at any time, as it is aging is its a IDE drive. But that will get you running.
I recommend getting a new SATA drive/Optical drive as soon as possible.

The other one seems like it might be too thick to fit between the drive and case. I don't see any reason why this wouldn't work, but I'm not quite an expert in this field.
That adapter changes SATA to IDE. You are trying to go from IDE to SATA.
I didn't even notice that, thanks. I suppose I'll buy the original one posted in this thread, I've got to get 4 of them. Thanks for the quick replies by all.
