Hi, I recently bought my Alienware X51 in mid August and I satisfied with what I received but I know It could Be better. I would know If its possible without getting a new motherboard to fit all the existing parts besides the Psu and the graphics card into a new case! I want to take my parts and just move them into a new case besides the graphics card and the power supply (if thats possible). If its not possible to do it without swapping the motherboard is there a way to do it w/out corrupting windows?
I want to upgrade the graphics card to a AMD Radeon R9 270 with 2GB GDDR5 This is now available to purchase with the X51 now but was not before.
and Money is not an issue
Im not exactly 100% if this is possible forgive me if it is not
Here are my system specs
Processer Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770 CPU
Current Graphics card Nvidia GeForce GTX 660
Power supply 330w (Ithink)
I have all the current drivers for my graphics card installed!
If theres anything else you need to know please ask!

You know you don't have to use a graphics card that is sold with the alienware, right? You can use pretty much any modern graphics card that your power supply supports.

Yes, you should be able to move your rig into another case - the x51 uses the mini-itx standard, and since you're looking for more room to work with, I suggest the bitfenix prodigy.

Going from a GeForce GTX 660 (non-Ti) to a Radeon R9 270 is only a 4% increase in performance. Not worth it.

Well actually I was Aware that they are relatively the same but AMD uses Mantle which Basically uses Higher Graphical API and still provides Extra FPS A guy who had a GTX Titan got around 110 FPS or something and then he compared it to the R9 290x and used mantle and got around 160 Fps there have been some people who have recorded around 300Fps or something

Can't even mention Titan or 290x while you are talking about those cards, whole new ball game. Mantle, meh, so far BF4 uses it. Not a reason to buy a card for a promised API that may or may not have much future support.

If you wouldn't have bought an overpriced alienware in the first place, you could have built a system with a way better video card in the first place, but regardless, I wouldn't bother upgrading. spend a few hundred for a few fps isn't worth it.
