I recently bought a new RAM stick for my Dell Inspiron 15 (N5040). There's two slots for RAM and the system is maxed out at 8GB. I had 1GB in slot 1, and 2 GB in slot two. I decided to replace the 1GB with a 4GB module. I took a look at Newegg, Dell, and Crucial's memory finders to find out what sort of memory I needed and I decided on the G.Skill DDR3-1333 PC3-10600 CL9 1.5V.
When I replaced the memory with the new module, Windows 7 would not load. I have a 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium OS, and I know that allows me to expand to the full 8GB of memory.
I put the old RAM back in temporarily.
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong here? Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you need anymore info just ask.
