Hey Guys, I've got a heavily modified Dell XPS 730x from 2009 and I've decided it is finally time to upgrade my CPU/MB/RAM. I think I've settled on the new build I want, but I thought I'd run it buy the community for some feedback.

Current PC
Core i7 950 (3.07GHz)
Dell Motherboard (XPS 730x board)
12GB Corsair Dominator GT (Triple channel)

Proposed Upgrades
Intel Core i7-4770K
ASUS Maximus VI Formula
Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB

Other Current Components
Rosewill Blackhawk Ultra
Corsair H100i
EVGA GTX 680 FTW 4gb
Corsair RM1000 PSU
Intel 120 GB SSD (System)
Samsung 500 GB SSD

Full Upgraded Build Parts List

This system is prioritized for gaming, but I do programming in C++/C# and web design as well. I was drawn to the ASUS ROG line of motherboards because of the features and accessories offered and I feel the Formula does a good job at balancing overclocking options and cost within this line. The RAM is 1866 MHZ ($10 more than 1600, and $60 less than 2400) and 9-10-9-27 for timing, so a decent speed without sacrificing much latency. Eventually I'd like to get 32 GB of this RAM to fully utilize the motherboard's RAMDISK functionality, but I don't really want to spend $400 on RAM right now.

I'd like to know if anyone would recommend considering different component upgrades. Any advice is much appreciated.

You're probably right that I won't see a significant increase in performance with this upgrade. The primary reason is my current motherboard is really starting to show its age. It has no USB 3, only 4 USB 2. The BIOS is severely lacking in features (newest update is 2009) especially for overclocking.

I could just upgrade the motherboard, but LGA 1366 boards aren't too common these days.
