I'm looking for a decent gaming headset for a good price for about 50 or less.
wired or wireless but mostly looking for wireless.

A good wireless headset will not happen in that budget. The Logitech G230 would be my pick within your budget for an analog (3.5mm stereo and microphone connectors) headset, but keep in mind that analog headsets, even good ones like the G230, are only as good as the audio device you attach them to, so I would only get the G230 if you have a decent dedicated sound card.

My pick for a USB headset if you are on low-powered onboard audio such as realtek, would be the Creative Soundblaster Tactic3d Fury, which comes with a small USB sound-card.

Make sure you read reviews.. I see alot of reviews saying that the rage has trouble holding a decent charge. Personally I would not go that cheap on a wireless headset. If your budget is that low I would stick with the wired and find some way to route the cord so it does not get in the way (I prop my keyboard up on its back feet and route the cable around one of them to keep it in one place.)

Wireless headsets are one of those things where you really need to spend to get good quality. For example, this would be my pick for a wireless headset. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826816028

For $50 or less, I'd say your usual suspects ( Creative, Turtle Beach, Logitech, Razer, ) are all going to be very similar ( and I agree with Dia, finding a good wireless set for that price is almost impossible. ) It'll just come down to the best deal you can find to duck under the $50 limit. I like my Turtle Beach PX22 and I was able to grab them around $65 last year on sale. Their Z22 and Z21 are also good alternatives. Or you can go on their online store and get a refurb set or a higher-end model if you like.

One important question is whether you want to use these with just your computer or with a console as well. The PS3 ( and I believe PS4 ) only do chat audio over USB while game audio is over the normal audio outs. Xbox 360 can do audio over USB, but you need something that can plug into the controller for voice chat ( and apparently 360 and XB1 voice chat connections are not compatible. ) I got the PX22 because it can connect to PC, 360, and PS3/4 with no problem.
