Which graphics card to be used in PCI-e x16 @x4 ?

My MoBo has a PCI-e x16 Slot @ x4 mode.
I want to know that which GPU upgrade will be the best for it.

My PC Specs:

BIOSTAR 945GZ MICRO 775
PENTIUM D CPU 3.0 GHZ
1GB DDR2 DIMM RAM
LG DVD ROM DRIVE
SEAGATE 160GB SATA HDD
INTEL GMA 950 (IGP)

  1. Any GPU will fit there but your rig seems a bit to old to handle a good GPU.

    Well here's the thing most games need more then 1GB of RAM.

    so then i will upgrade ram to 4gb. ram's problem can still be solved but i dont know which g.p.u. to be used.
    can you suggest maximum supported g.p.u. that will work good without bottleneck or something :'( ?

    Anything up to a radeon 7770/R7 series or geforce 650/750. Your power supply needs to be able to power it though. A cheap 200-300w psu that you likely have will be cutting it close.

    I have a gold certified 550w PSU & it has 19A on +12V Rail........ does i need upgrade or it will work good?
