I originally thought that TrueAudio would be supported by all 7000-series and R7/R9-series AMD cards.
However I recently read that only R9 270X, R9 290 and R9 290X will support it.
Is that true? And more specifically will the Radeon HD7950 and the R9 280X support it?

TrueAudio will only be featured in the R7 260X, the Kaveri iGPU's the R7 260, and the R9 290/290X. Other GPU's are considered "GCN 1.0", which doesn't include TrueAudio.

No, the HD 7950, R9 280X and all rebranded GCN 1.0 cards will not support TrueAudio.
This is a hardware feature that has been designed into the new generation GCN 1.1 cards; without it you will not have access to it.

Not to much to worry about at this point though.
There are currently no released games that support TrueAudio and it will likely be some time before it has any substantial support (if it ever does).

Thank you both for the answers. Still a shame only those cards support trueAudio...
