Hi i am using pc part picker and i have heard the i5 3570k is the best for gaming. But on pc part picker it says that it is a z77 chipset not z87?

Dear, it is not about chipset but the socket that, CPU supports. i5 3570k has the socket of LGA1155 (Ivy Bridge) and supporting chipset is Z77.

If you want to use z87 chipset then you may choose i5 4670k (Its socket is LGA1150 Haswell)

Hopefully, your query is answered.

I would recommend getting the 4670k over the 3570k.
Haswell have a general 5-15% performance increase over Ivy-Bridge and is only slightly more expensive(sometimes haswell is actually cheaper).

and at the moment there isnt much price difference between them, but when it comes time to sell the 4670k will be worth alot more than the 3570k
