Hey guys,

I need a PC for gaming/video&photo editing and recording games while playing them. I'm not going to do anything too heavy on photo edits, just stuff like logos and wallpapers. Video editing is the same thing, not extremely heavy, stuff like making intros, and editing gaming videos.
I will do a bit heavy gaming on games like Crysis 3 and Watch Dogs when it comes out. Will an i5 handle this or so i need i7?
(I might overclock them)
My parts list:

If I get i5, I will save a lot so I might upgrade motherboard and maybe RAM. I'm buying a SADES headset off ebay for $25.

My max budget is $1650 and i need monitor/keyboard&mouse and a headset(headset from ebay).

@H4X3R: Agree with you regarding the trend in industry. But you see with more advancement, there seems to be a urge to get rid of hardware downtime. Apps/games - to be come - will be utilizing maximum threads/cores or they seem to be. With continuous advancement and introduction of new techs with fierce competition in the...

In the end, the price difference between Core i7-4770K and unlocked Haswell Core i5 is about $100. The price diff between the multiplied locked models is also about $100. If you need the maximum performance, that's not a very high price to pay. The only question is whether your application can spawn eight threads to take advantage of the hyper-threading in Core i7. You need ideally at least 8 threads.

Well, yea. I can do this with an i5:

And this with an i7:

There is not a huge difference but the RAM and mobo was a downside

Yea thnx im stickin with intel

Point of view of H4X3R is that he is recommending the CPU of 2011LGA socket based on no of cores. Yes the trend is going towards utilizing all threads and all cores. Currently there a few games/apps which are actually utilizing all or should I say maximum no of cores/threads.

Saying this you'll still be good if you choose i7 4770k on LGA1150 socket.

@EasyLover It all depends on how long he will be keeping the computer. I assume he is going to keep it for about 5 years, by then 4 cores with hyperthreading will be very weak, just like a dual core with hyper threading is at the moment.

Hmmm....ur right.
Is there a way to replace my CPU and keep all files on my pc the same? Is it possible to replace a CPU like a graphics card? Will it be as easy?

Keeping your files on your PC means storing them on hard disk? Yes your files will be on hard disk. Changing the CPU will not affect your files. If by changing the CPU like Graphics Card you mean the installation then yes changing/installation of GPU is rather very easy. Installation of CPU is sensitive. It should be done in a way to ensure that pins are not bent.

If my above interpretation is wrong then pl elaborate your query.
