Hi there community

About 3 months ago I started getting som serious FPS drops in all games, games I used to run on this PC on high settings with 80 FPS are now running on the lowest settings with 30 FPS.

I downloaded MSI Afterburner and noticed that my GPU temperature was 55°C when idle, and
95°C when I was running a game, I went out and bought just some cheap silicone based thermal paste to apply, just to see if that would help, after applying the paste my idle temps where 35°C but my in game temps went up to 100°C and then my PC crashes, the temps start out at 35°C and then they slowly rise with 1°C every 2-3 second untill it reaches 100°C and shuts down. I have checked a ton of different forum posts and tried re-applying the paste, but none of it helps.

So here is my question: Can the problem be with anything else other than the thermal paste? I have removed all dust from my GPU and it's fan, and the fan seems to increase in speed with the temperature so I don't think it's that.
