Hi there! I have an Asus X401U notebook. The cpu is AMD E2-1800, 1.7GHz. The gpu is AMD Radeon HD 7340M. Ram is 2 gig and I am thinking of upgrading it.

My question is, I want to upgrade my gpu, if possible. I don't think I have an expresscard slot in my notebook. I have made some searches about eGPU. It requires an expresscard slot to obtain an eGPU. Are there any other ways to use an eGPU? I don't know anything about opening up a laptop/notebook for swapping the gpu.

I have also read about bottleneck. Do you think bottlenecking would occur?

Thanks!

You are almost certainly out of luck. There is a very limited group of laptops in which you can change the GPU subsystem. Yours is not one of them.

Thanks for the quick reply. How about docking stations? Would it be possible to connect a mini tower to my laptop as a form of some upgrade?

Let's say it's not possible. So I guess I'm gonna move on to getting a desktop. There are alot of good second hand towers in my place, so maybe I could get one and upgrade the hardware. What cpu, gpu and ram would you recommend for my situation (I do video editing and gaming)? Please something not too pricy. Hope it's gonna be kinda cheap. Thanks for helping!
