I already have a HD7770 but would like to increase my graphics power, i have room for 2 GPU's but only £100 and a 500W PSU. should I crossfire another HD7770 or upgrade to something else as i want to play Rome 2 total war on high settings and battlefield 4 with reasonable fames? and I dont really care about TDP but overheating is obviously an issue with an AMD build but i have a lot of case fans :)

running: Processor:
AMD FX 8320 Processor
Memory: 8192mb RAM
XFX DD HD 7770

I would really consider a 2GB Radeon HD 7870(about 2x the performance, shaders, vram etc.) as a 2 HD7770's as a crossfired setup, and in most cases and the right drivers, only gets you between 30-40% increase versus a single card . You could sell the HD7770 and put the money towards the cost of the HD7870 or even a HD7950(even better).

The caliber of graphics cards doesn't depend on wattage alone. Two Xfire 7770's preforms just as well or barely better than a 7870. However, since the 7770 only has 1GB of RAM per gpu, it can sometimes run into issues there. In that case a single 7870 would be a better choice. I currently have a 7950, and I can run Battlefield 4 comfortably on Ultra settings @ 1080p. A 7870 should be able to run Battlefield 4 on med-high settings with decent fps, and considering the powerful processor you have, you should be able to run high settings just fine with the mantle update for BF4 (utilizing all the cores of your CPU). I have the FX 6300, and my games are very smooth.

So, yeah, I'd buy a 7870 if I were you. The cheapest one I saw n Newegg was like 125 Euros.
