Hey people,

Currently i have a DF-85 case sitting under my desk however i am looking for something that i can place on the actual desk.

Currently this is my setup:

There's no room for a standard tower standing upright unfortunately, so what i'm looking for is an ATX case that sits flat or one that can sit flat but still look really good.

The idea is to have it sitting under the TV as i can raise the TV further and will have 8 inches headroom in the end, my current case would fit under it but it'll take up half the desk :ouch:

I will be watercooling the CPU (Maybe graphics card aswell in the future), i also need the case to have a side panel window, other than that it won't have anything too fancy in there, about three hard drives and no optical drive.

I don't mind spending upto £150 if the case is really good.

I know that's quite a bit, but i've googled around and in all honesty havn't come across much so if anyone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated!

Thanks :)

There's actually very few horizontally orientated cases these days, at least aimed at high end desktop builds.

You have sorta work-bench-esque designs like the HAF XB, which is great but pretty huge in most dimensions (it's probably too tall still), or you look towards HTPC ATX cases, most of which aren't really geared towards water cooling, Silverstone make a pretty big selection of these.
An alternative (though it would require a new motherboard) is to consider mATX/ITX cases which would give you a lot more options in terms of proportions/orientations, as well as potentially having more provision for water cooling support.

True, i've been thinking of the Micro-ATX option however i think i might just go with the Corsair Carbide Air 540, it's a few inches bigger than what i need but i think it's the closest i'm going to get and it has a nice side window and lots of good reviews, i'll have to modify parts of my desk a little bit as it dosn't seem like i have many other options.

Its certainly a nice case, but it wouldn't have been one that sprung to mind, as I'm not overly convinced by it in it's horizontal layout (given how cubic it is, there's not a world of difference between upright and on its side) as you end up with a solid perspex panel as a roof. In horizontal mode it's similar dimensions to a HAF XB.

I'm sure it'll work fine enough though.

On a totally unrelated note, I think that's a MS Sidewinder X8 mouse? Mine finally died recently, though it did survive a massive fall over a year ago it had never been quite the same.

Indeed that is correct, the charger port on mine has stopped working but other than that it's still going :D

Thanks for your advice :) My final decision is to mount the monitor on the left above the middle monitor, making space for the case on the left side for the case to fit into, thanks very much!
