Worth it to wait for DDR4?

Solution
Not really there is no noticeable difference between ddr3 1600 and 2800. i have done this myself you do not feel the difference. Also when the new standards come out they are most of the time not faster by much till they ramp up and bring out the enthusiast versions ect. I would wait about a year for it to get cheap and mainstream. If you want to build now go for it. Im rocking a a 3770 and there is no reason to upgrade this for quite a while..

No I really don't think so. Intel will launch DDR4 for server architectures later this year, but it we probably won't see any desktop DDR4 solution before 2015. Besides, the main advantages of DDR4 would be higher frequencies, densities and lower power consumption. Higher frequencies can already be achieved with DDR3, since standard is 1333MHz/1600MHz and there modules with much higher frequencies available. The first batches of DDR4 will either be very close to the top DDR3 frequencies (about 3GHz) or very expensive.

Densities won't matter much, since we can already have 32GB DDR3 installed quite easily, and there is absolutely no reason for that on a personal desktop.

Power consumption is maybe the most important thing, as it allows portable devices to save power. Also, integrated graphics will be able to share system memory and deliver much better performance. On a desktop, though, it won't matter much. In the end, home desktops will benefit very little from DDR4.
