I have a Netgear Wireless Router and a Charter Cable Modem. When someone goes on the desktop computer in our house, one of our laptops lose connection and the router has to be restarted to get it back again. Same if another laptop goes online, then the same laptop noted above loses connection. Now, if I am on noted laptop above, and my son tries to go onto his smart tv (which has its own ethernet port) he is unable to watch tv until I get off my laptop but never has to reset the router. Hope this makes sense. My question is, can I manually set a channel for each device? I have 2 smart tvs, 1 ipad, 1 ipod, 1 blackberry tablet, 1 android tablet, 2 laptops, 1 desktop and 1 wireless printer. And of course the router. Or any other advice? This is driving us crazy!

Evening,

Firstly I would suggest trying to update the firmware of your router, this often solves the issue.

When you are able to connect a device is it always assigned the same IP address, or a different address? As the router may not be assigning addresses correctly, although admittedly this is rather uncommon.

Have you tried performing a factory reset?
