I have an HP xw6600 workstation PC/made circa 2007.

Trying to remove and replace a PCI express graphics card, but there is a "retention clamp" that runs across the side of the PCI slots that I can't free up (highlighted in yellow):

I followed the instructions in releasing the two plastic "retention clamp levers" (service manual screenshot):

..but the levers will not will not budge. (two plastic, greenish clamp levers/by red arrows):

Retention levers/back of PC view (on right, top/bottom):

I don't know if this is due to age (PC purchased used) or I am doing something wrong?
I would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

ok basically how this works is that on the inside of the case, you need to press down and towards the outside of the case and those little blue plastic things will, in a kinda lever fasion, pop out of the back of the case (so you need to apply slight force to the top of them in order to get them to pop out the back.

the case looks to be in good condition, so it shouldnt have anything to do with the age...i wish i could really show you myself, but i'm limited to text

basically if they were both open, the majority of each clip would be sticking out of the back of the case, and you would push them back in in order to lock the retention plate back down

so apply downward pressure near where the tips of the red arrows are on the clips, and then push so that it will pop through the hole

All of your replies were excellent suggestions!

It worked right away. Your description of how to apply pressure and that they should pop out the back really helped.

Thanks again!
