Not sure what is going on with my card. Software or hardware?

I have a Sparkle GTX 460 1 gb graphics card.

A while ago, I noticed the computer would "hang" up but it was actually what I believe to be the graphics card freezing. This progressively turned worse as the screen would turn black after 20 seconds into windows bootup on the home screen. I called Sparkle, and was told the graphics card is dying and to send in a RMA.

After 2 months (I know...), I finally received a new graphics card (2 gb instead of the 1 gb I sent in). I inserted it into the PCI slot and away I went. Booted up the computer and bam, same problem. Safe mode or regular boot up, doesn't matter. Windows will boot then the screen will turn black after a short amount of time.

One thing I did notice, however, is that when I unplugged the video cord and plugged it into the other DVI slot (both are on the graphics card, don't have integrated graphics), I was able to see the window home screen for 3-4 seconds until the screen went black again. Can anyone explain to me what is going on?

First, make sure the card is firmly inserted into the PCI slot, then try making sure your drivers for the card are up to date. Go to the manufacturers website to download the most recent drivers. Remember, Always check the hardware first before the software.

No 2nd PCI slot for the video card (not sure of the specs for this PCI slot). Checked the RAM as an issue, doesn't solve the issue.

Unfortunately, I think this is a graphics card problem. I turned on my computer with the side open to notice that the card is warped, either from shipping or the cold or whatever. The fan started banging against the graphics card housing and would only stop if I lifted the graphics card to be horizontal (it was bent down slightly). Even more so, I JUST received this one back from Sparkle as an RMA that I submitted before Christmas. I also had to force Newegg's hand for Sparkle to even accept my RMA submission. Looks like I'm out a graphics card.

Thanks for your help guys.

I had a similar problem with my video card once. The fan made a loud humming sound. I took the fan off and cleaned it off of the dust and dirt on it. It seemed to work fine after that, but then again, that was only the fan.
