Hi all
I want to build gaming pc, I was thinking of going with AMD because of lower cost, not sure best way to go. I was thinking of AMD A10 6800K but after reading more the GPU is not good enough to run top games, so next option is AM3+ but the big question which you may get asked a lot is FX 4, FX 6 or FX 8 not got a clue. I have about £170 to play with on board and cpu may be a bit more. Can anyone advise which way to go please

4 (4 cores)
6 (6 cores)
8 (8 cores)

Get what you can afford...as high as possible. But cut back one if it enables you to get a step up on the GPU side...Most games are gpu intensive vs cpu these days.

I am building from scratch already got Zalman Z11 case and Thermaltake Evo Blue Series 550 PSU......So I have £245 to spend on motherboard, CPU and Memory.

So I read this months Pc Format's Gear of the Year Budget Build:

AMD FX-6300 Black Edition £85
Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P £53
Crucial Ballistix Tactical LP 2X4GB £69

Total £207.......what do you think about this would it handle top games, I am hoping to have about £130-£150 to buy GPU soon

All advise greatfull........I would still have about £40 to ramp it up a bit more
