So I am going to build a gaming pc and I thought it would be cool to use the Aerocool Strike-X AIR open air case. The only problem is that it is pretty rare now. I found the case for sale finally, but now I need a psu to fit in it. It has mounting brackets for the Aerocool Strike-X power supply units, but even if I can find one I have heard that they aren't that great.

Amazon says that the dimensions of this psu are 15x16.5x8.5 cms. assuming that these measurements are correct, does anybody know of a psu with those same measurements? Or does anyone else have this case with another psu succesfully installed?
Thanks in advance,
Joshua

So ATX PSUs are a standard form factor, meaning the side that screws into the case is a standard size- 85x150cm I think. The screw holes are in a standard place so almost all ATX PSUs fit almost all ATX cases. The only thing that differs on ATX...

I've never built a pc before so I don't know if most have psu brackets. Do brackets fit pretty much anything or will these brackets only fit certain psus? Also, in the picture of the strike-x psu in the case, it looks like a very tight fit, any bigger in any dimension would be too big I think.

TechPowerUp.com said: There is room for unconventionally long PSUs.

KitGuru put a Seasonic 1000W PSU into that PSU bay. That PSU is 190 mm in depth. The modular output cables were too short to route under the motherboard tray though.

So ATX PSUs are a standard form factor, meaning the side that screws into the case is a standard size- 85x150cm I think. The screw holes are in a standard place so almost all ATX PSUs fit almost all ATX cases. The only thing that differs on ATX (the most common size and the type that case uses) is the length. A standard length is 140mm. Some are 160mm and some as noted are as long as 190mm. These tend to be the very powerful, very expensive ones. Think more than 800W (which you probably won't need in this build unless you go multiple ultra high end video cards). According to your research, this case appears to be able to handle up to 160mm PSUs, but there is evidence that even up to 190mm is possible.

So in conclusion, I'd say look for a good quality Antec,Corsair, PCPower&Cooling, or FSP power supply. I use a FSP G550 PSU for a core i7 based computer with a Radeon HD6950 video card and it works great. I believe mine is 140mm or 150mm long.
