I was wondering if anyone could help me with a really annoying problem I'm having.

I've tried through multiple routes to change the CPU settings in BIOS, but none of them ever stick. They change in the BIOS but once I reach the desktop and run CPU-Z I'm back to factory specs.

I'm trying to OC the i7 3820 on a X79A GD45(8D) motherboard, if anyone has any experience with either?

I keep the base clock at 100, the CPU ratio to the maximum 43 allowed and the CPU core voltage to 1.3v. I have also disabled the EIST and Turbo boost.

I honestly can't think of what the problem can be! It's very frustrating! :fou: :)

N.B. - just to clarify I think the settings themselves work as there isn't any series of restarts or anything like that!

Set your windows power plan to maximum and if you have kind of overclocking software from your motherboard, disable it. Other than that you could try updating your bios, or a lower multiplier and seeing it takes that.
