Hi All,

I am a complete noob at computer hardware so bear with me. I was just given a gaming PC by my brother I believe he got it in 2008/09. It has a Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD4P mother board and a GTX-260, what would be a suitable upgrade for this model that will be compatible with the mother board?

Kind Regards,

Tate

What is the better quality brand AMD or Nvidia?

Every answer you get on this will be biased, including mine.

I consider Nvidia to be better at some points and AMD to be better at others. I go mid-range, around $250 when i buy a card, but i buy two of them because it is often more powerful that one $700 card.

Depending on what you do, it differs greatly. They are huge competitors in the way of gaming and I personally prefer Nvidia, but don't take your answer from one guy.

What's your price range?

They are both excellent but you don't buy directly from AMD or NVIDIA. If you are looking for a good GPU brand, for AMD I have had nothing but good experiences from XFX and for NVIDIA I always use EVGA.

As I don't need it right this minute - Assassins Creed 4 is the latest game I have and it is running quite well with the current setup I have - I could probably spend anywhere up to the $300 range on it.
