Hello,

I have recently brought the ASUS Radeon HD 7770 due to my old graphics card died. I've had to wipe my HDD and reinstall windows due to problems. I'm now trying to install the drivers for this card, every time I do however, I'll reboot and find myself with a black hanging screen after the windows logo has disappeared. I've reseated my graphics card already however that seems to not be the case, and I have a 700W PSU before anyone states that it may be the PSU.

I've tried multiple versions of the drivers. 13.9 (Old), 13.12 (Latest), and even the beta drivers. However none of them have worked. Once installed I can get into safe mode perfectly fine and I have uninstalled the drivers so I can boot normally. I hope someone here can give me a solution to this problem.

I usually don't recommend doing this, but did you try installing the drivers that came on the CD? Those generally always work but aren't recommended because they are 99/100 times the outdated driver versions, but they are stable and install well off of a disc. If that doesn't work it is very possible your GPU is defective. I would try what I said quickly and try to see if you can still apply for an RMA.

Hello,

I have tried to install the drivers using my CD which came with the card, however that still cropped up the same problem.

And I'm not sure if the clean up utility would help, but I'm willing to give it a shot. I did a clean install of windows before installing, I shall go and download the utility and try, then edit this post with an update. Thanks for the help however though you two.

If you do perform a cleanup and reinstall driver, install another version(older than 13.9) and that too minimal. Don't do express. Choose custom and avoid hydravision etc., try only the video driver. And why did your old card die? After cleanup and reboot try running GPU-Z to see the card name. If it says "Radeon HD 7770 Microsoft corporation" that means Windows knows your card and has driver, but probably OpenCL won't work as shown by the software. I once had problems with malfunctioning AMD graphics overdrive and also a game freezing and crashing, and had to cleanup when I found this out. The problem was found to be different, though(GPU overclocking and CPU unlocking+undervolting).

Well, I've tried everything, so I think it's down to the card itself. I suppose this one I've brought is defected, so I'll just get it replaced. Thanks for the help guys! I appreciate it all. Hopefully when I get the new card I won't have any problems, or maybe I'll get my money back and just buy a different card all together, I'm not sure yet. Again, thanks for the help.
