Hello, I am looking to boost the signal of my router and am wondering the best way to do it, its an Asus RT-N12 D1. It is located in the room of the house the computers are located and from their provides decent wifi signal to my consoles in the front of the house. What I would like to do is boost the signal enough to reach the back of the house, I got a TV set up back their and a new bluray player for it for movies and netflix, trouble is the signal is really weak back there, weak enough that the player can't perform a software update wirelessly and when loading netflix will only get to the main page but not load anything.

I know there are antennas that can be purchased to upgrade the stock ones on routers, but I do not know anything about them or how to find compatible ones for mine. I am also aware of repeaters but have never used one nore know what to look for in one. Any advice for me?

You would need an external antenna connection for the router for a better antenna which your router has. But an extender may be better, you can actually get a second of the same model as it can be configure as an access point. Basically they hang off the wifi signal off the first router, then send their own wifi signal that is on the same network outward. So you have 100 feet from original router to extender, then the extender uses it's own signal to go out further with that signal.

The manual for the Asus you have will have the steps on how to configure things.

You'll probably want to place the second device half way between the router and the back room of the house.
