Mouse issue. Clicks on it's own and drags the cursor.

I'm having issues with my mouse. It's not a continuous issue but it's persistent. When I go to sign into my user account the cursor is already clicking on the password section. When I finally get signed in and move the mouse to click on an icon, it drags across the screen, highlighting as it goes along. Left clicking seems to make it go away for a minute but it will continue for a while and stop. I have run MBAM and AVG and I haven't found any issues there. I have also switched out my mouse and used a different usb port to make sure that it wasn't either of those. Windows is completely updated and I've checked to make sure that the drivers for the mouse are current. Any suggestions?

I did. I also tried them on different ports to make sure the port wasn't bad. I tried the keyboard in all the ports as well and it worked fine.

Thanks for the replies. It ended up being two bad mice. Found a third to try and it's fine now.

Lol I like working on hardware so replacing a MB is no issue. It was just really weird that two mice had the same issue and a third one worked fine. The computer hadn't been cleaned in several years and I was thinking he had burned up something on it from all the dust and dog hair that was residing on it. Lucky for him that wasn't the problem.

Good to hear that, but I was talking from another point of view which includes money and hassle to reinstall OS, practically you have to disassemble the whole system to replace the MB, and you may need to reactivate the license of OS by talking to MS, which is also a hectic job. The license is somewhat married to the MB.

Anyways it may be my point of view and not yours. Good luck.
