Asus HD7750 causing system reboots?

If I play any game for an extended period of time, say an hour or so, I have a total system reboot. My guess is that my PSU is in fact a POS being stock from HP. I'm not opposed to getting a new one. I just wanna know what you guys think. I think mine PEAKS at 300w not rated at 300w like assumed before. I'm open to suggestions for PSUs definitely in the sub-$50 range as I still have more important things I need to pay for (crazy right?). Thanks in advance!

That might be a PSU issue if an error message is not displayed, for a system with a 7750 you don't need a very powerful PSU so something like a Corsair CX430 should do just fine

Another thing to check would be temperatures under load (Realtemp for Intel CPUs, Coretemp for AMD CPUs and MSI Afterburner for GPUs) etc., they can cause shutdowns too, especially after prolonged periods of time

this Asus version peaks at almost double the wattage that most other 7750s do. No I do not get an error message

Even so it shouldn't exceed the 75W supplied by the PCI-E slot (there are a few models which require a 6 pin connector from what I've read), a CX 430 should do the job just fine (or an Antec VP-450 if you live somewhere where it's cheaper than the CX430), even if it is the more power hungry version of the card

If temperatures are fine then it would most likely be the PSU

Temps seem fine. I'll continue to monitor them. My other thought is amps. I haven't checked it, but I'm not convinced it's pushing enough amps for the card. This one does not require a 6 pin.

I've solved the problem. The card WAS overheating. HP had a loosely secured ground wire going to the lights on the front of the case. It has apparently been getting caught in the fan intermittently. Well this time it locked it up all the way. When I noticed my game stuttering as it would before a shutdown, I switched to check temps, 102c. It was then that I also heard the fan trying to engage (couldn't hear it over my games). I've resecured the wire so it won't cause a problem anymore. Crysis 3 kept it at a constant 52c. Thanks!
