Will hyper-threading on an i7 help the next gen games perform better?

Hey Toms,

I am about to upgrade my PC from a Core 2 Duo..

These are the specs i have selected:

Core i5 3570k or Core i7 3770
Intel DZ75ML-45K
Corsair Vengeance 2x4 @1600mhz
Asus DRW-24B3ST
1TB HDD Barracuda
Antec GX700 Cabby

I will use the Corsair CX430V2 PSU along with a Radeon 6750 1GB DDR5 from my old pc.

I want to know if getting an i7 non K version help me play games with a better performance for next 3-4 years considering both PS4 and Xbox One are using 8 core cpus so will the HT on an i7 help in the future compared to an i5 with only 4 threads?

My mobo although advertised to be used along with a K series processor doesnt have much headroom for OC considering i am getting it for 75$ here.. i saw the benchmarks< a highly OC'd i5 reaches the stock performance of an i7..

So what should i get?

Primary objective is gaming.. there is a 65$ difference between the 3570k and 3770 here..

Will replace the gpu and psu with a R9 280x and Corsair VS550W psu.. (wont be purchased by me so the extra 65$ saved doesnt count here)

Haswells are uber expensive here so please suggest anything within the 3rd gen only...

so yea.. i7 or a i5..

Solution
my suggestion, whatever cpu you pick, get a better gpu.

or buy an i5 (which is cheaper), overclock it. then the money that you save (by not buying i7), buy a decent gpu
first, i know your concern is gaming, so i would suggest that you get an i5 (K), and get a better gpu. Even if you buy the fastest i7 out there, it will still be slow in gaming if you use a 6750. It is not a bad gpu, but it will bottleneck an i7 extremely

No one can give you a 100% yes or no on this because its in the future. We can however tell you that an i5 will run all games and all upcoming games no problem with approximately equal performance vs the i7. This does not rule out that developers are making huge strides in using multicore functions, multithreading, and hyper-threading within gaming. Battlefield developers are researching ways to use threading technology with the game. I would assume that later games will only just begin to use hyperthreading.

i5 is a 4 core without hyperthreading, i7 is a 4 core with hyperthreading thus creating a virutal 8 core with 4 logical cores, the i7 6 core is too pricey but also has hyperthreading creating a virtual 12 core with 6 logical cores.

Do I really need to correct you constantly?
Intel is generally not putting they product down in price after a new generation gets realized.
Example: 3930k: Intel Core i7-3930K 3.2GHz 6-Core Processor ($564.98 @ SuperBiiz)
4930k: Intel Core i7-4930K 3.4GHz 6-Core Processor ($549.99 @ Newegg)
