You didn't really list any requirements for your backups, so it is kind of tough to offer recommendations.

I use a product called SpiderOak. It is a cloud-based backup solution that supports deduplication and encryption. The plan I'm on costs $10/month for 100 GB of data with multiple devices. This may be a good solution for you, depending on your requirements.

Actually it was academic interest that lead to me to ask the question. But, naturally, I prefer answers for basic scenarios. Ideally, if you can, even the pitfalls.

Dont know much about the other two, but this one Rollback Rx by Horizon DataSys offers backups that are ready within moments. It isnt resources intensive. It is also encrypted

Backup Exec and True image are famous. Rollback Rx isnt. Recovery hapens very quickly and files can be copied between states through a very clean interface. Thanks, for spideroak. That one is sort of different from what he wants i think. But it doesn''t seem to be bad.

Acronis True Image and Horizon DataSys Rollback Rx are not the back up software, I think. These are restoring software. If you really looking for a system restore software then I'll recommend you to go for Deep Freeze by Faronics http://www.faronics.com/products/deep-freeze/. Its a kernel level system restore software which freeze the system configuration. No re-imaging required. I'm a big fan of it.

I have tried Deep Freeze and its great! But it only restores on reboot, better for public access computers, on my personal computer I would still go with Rollback RX because of the multiple snapshots I can take and have access too. I would think Rollback is a more robust product and a faster recovery software.

I prefer full backup and scheduled backup: weekly/monthly. Backup to an external hd or cloud are better, about software, mine is aomei backupper. its free edition meet my needs. About cloud drive, I like a cloud service manager app named MultCloud, which is free. I like free products.
