Hello guys, i will be upgrading my motherboard and CPU.

Current Motherboard and CPU:

CPU: Core i5 - 2400 @ 3.10 GHz (Sandy Bridge)
Motherboard: H61M-USB3-B3 Rev. 2.0

I will upgrade to:

CPU: Core i5 - 4670K or Core i7 - 4770K
Motherboard: Gigabyte G1 Sniper Z87

Do i need to re-install my Win 7 after this?. I really need to keep this Windows as i have important data on it. Thanks.

Solution

Do you have retail version win 7 or OEM version?
If OEM u cannot install it on another motherboard
If retail version then u can install it on upto 3 times on different motherboards.
only issue is activation
also even if u have to reinstall please select keep old files option so that your documents or other files are saved.

Just plug everything in and try to boot. I bet Windows will find all the drivers it needs automatically unless hardware is too new. Just in case, have all the new drivers on a USB or CDR disc ready. The biggest concern is probably that Windows will decide that the license is not compatible with the new hardware and you will have to talk to Microsoft license support people about it.
