I have a Abit Kn9 Ultra motherboard.I want to make a memory stick bootable but i don't see in Hdd Boot Priority.I did make 3 bootable memory stick ,manualy and with a lot of programs( Rufus, Microsoft Usb Tools etc. but don't appear in bios. The bios it's from 2007.

This is what Microsoft says:

Turn on your computer, insert the Windows 7 installation disc or USB flash drive, and then turn off your computer.

Restart your computer.

Press any key when prompted to do so, and then follow any instructions that appear.

When the Install Windows page appears, click Install now to begin the installation process or click Repair your computer to access system recovery options.

Follow the instructions.

The stick don't appear in bios. It's bootable. The motherboard it's too old for usb boot (2007) or it's problem on bios? I did make a usb stick bootable with windows 8.1 ,another with Linux mint and another with windows 7.None appear in bios. Abit Tech Suport it's no longer exist.Scumbags.Any idea?

why are you trying to use bios? Why don't you use the usb as primary partition on windows then boot up.

That is done like this:

search format in start and you'll see something that is like "create or partition....." open that and make it your primary partition.

-so why are you trying to boot through your USB?

I have an Abit KN9 Mainboard, too. But the SLI version. You have to format the memory stick correctly. For example with UnetBootin (under Windows). It's important that the stick has a file system (NOT raw). Then the stick appears in BIOS under "Advanced BIOS Features, Hard Disk Boot Priority" as "USB-HDD0".

Not supported are sticks with no file system (For example you copied a Linux ISO image via dd on the USB flash memory). The computer will not detect the stick and will probably hang at the POST (power on self test).

If you have further questions regarding the KN9 you can ask me again.
