is it a direct drop in? i understand both are fm1 sockets.. but i was really wondering about bios or software .. is there anything i need to do besides plug and play?
Check the motherboard manufacturer's site. Gigabyte, for example, provides a list for each board indicating a) which CPUs will work with that particular board, and b) which BIOS version was the first to provide support for it. The other manufacturers should provide similar information.
