Hi, I’m the process of building my first computer and I've researched a mid-range to high-range computer to build and would love your opinions since I'm new to this. I've numbered the questions that I’ve asked, so it would great if you could answer as many as you can.

I intent to use the PC for using modelling (mainly Sketchup), rendering, video editing, Photoshop, CAD etc. I also play games, and would want it to be a decent gaming rig.

CPU
For the CPU, I was deciding between the i7 4930k vs i7 4770k (i.e 2011 vs 1150 build).
Even though 4930k has 2 more cores, I decided to go with the 4770k because:
• It is a few hundred dollars cheaper
• I read a 1150 system is cheaper and is more suited for systems with less than; 6 CPU cores, 3 GPUs and 64GB ram.
• The 4770k has a higher clock speed meaning generally faster in everything EXCEPT for rendering (as it’s one of the few processes that can make uses all 6 cores).

Whilst I would like more speedy renders the 4930k can offer, more and more of today’s rendering software use GPU rendering. So I figured I might as well save the money on the CPU and invest it in the GPU – which can be used for gaming too.

1. Thoughts on the 4770k over the 4930k?

2. Not planning on overclocking, but I may in the future. What is a good CPU cooler?

GPU
I want a good GPU, for smooth interactive rendering and playing games. Deciding between the GTX 780 and GTX 780 ti. Basically, I would love the 780 ti, but due to cost cutting measures I am going for the 780. I think it may suit my overall system better too in terms of balancing the components. I can always go SLI in the future for more power.

3. Should I go 780 ti - Is the extra money worth the 780 ti?

RAM
Going with 1333 16GB RAM (2 X 8GB). Can upgrade to 32GB in the future, but I think it’s enough for now.

4. Thoughts?

MOTHERBOARD
Don’t need anything fancy here, just the basics.
Tossing up between Gigabyte Z87X-D3H or Asus - Z87-A. Both are pretty cheap and from what I’ve looked at, both offer the basics. USB 3.0, Ethernet, sound card, HDMI out, up to 32GB ram and SLI support.

5. Anything I’ve missed? Thoughts? – open to suggestions.

CASE
So many to choose – mainly chose on visual appeal though. Going with the Thermaltake Urban-S41

6. Will it provide enough cooling for the system? Any other issues? Open to suggestions.

POWER SUPPLY
Going for the: Thermaltake SP-750PCBAU Smart 750w 80+ Bronze.
7. Will I have any issues in terms of power supply, reliability and/or adding SLI or ram in the future? - again, open to suggestions.

Thanks, appreciate the replies.
