Hello,
I've just built a PC, and I bought a copy of Windows 7 OEM builder - I put the disk in and everything loaded as expected. I partitioned the drive out, and set it to install. After endless hours it came back with ERROR: 0x80070057 - Windows never installed correctly.
When I try to install windows again it just hangs at the "setup is starting" screen indefinitely. Without a disk in the drive, it pops up "BootMGR is missing CTRL ALT DEL to restart" - When I restart, go to boot options and select the Rom Drive, it will load off the disk, but again just hangs are "setup is starting." I cannot have a mulligan to reinstall Windows again. If anyone could assist me I'd appreciate it.

On the Windows language selection screen (Before it gives you the option to install) I used Shift F10 and did as instructed on this page:

HERE IS WHAT THAT LINKS SAYS:
GO TO A COMMAND PROMPT
USING YOUR WIN 7 DVD/UFD
BOOT TO A COMMAND PROMPT USING A WIN 7 DVD/USB STICK
Ø Insert your Win 7 DVD or Win 7 USB
Ø Power down your computer.
Ø Power up your computer.
Ø Boot up your computer from the Win 7 DVD/USB stick.
Ø When a screen is displayed asking for the Language to Install,
press the key combo of SHIFT + F10.
Do NOT click on Next.
Press the SHIFT + F10 key combo.
You will have a X:\Sources> command prompt.
X: is a ram drive created by Windows 7.
X: contains a mini-version of Windows 7 called a PE (pre-execution environment).
If you do not plan on installing windows at this time, you may now remove the DVD/USB stick.
If you plan on continuing with an install, then do not remove.
Execute the desired commands.
Use the EXIT command to return to the Win 7 installation procedure.
NOTE: UFD = Usb Flash Device = usb stick = pendrive = thumb drive

Here is how to prepare the hard disk once you are at the command prompt:
type these commands,following each by hitting the ENTER key:
DISKPART
LIST DISK
SELECT DISK 0
DETAIL DISK (to make sure you got the hard disk)
CLEAN
EXIT
EXIT (this one gets you back into the install program.

None of that has offered any resolve. When I put in DISKPART it just hangs there, and I have no option to type anything further, I have to e(x)it the window and reopen it to try another option.
Inserted MB disk, used FREE DOS to try and format the DRIVE - Still no resolve.
Using Windows OEM Builder 64bit - The first time I placed the disk in the drive it allowed me to TRY and install - it failed. Now it will not allow me to get back to the screen to try an install it again. If anyone has a suggestion I'm all ears. Thank you for looking, and I hope someone can assist me.
Again, ERROR: 0x80070057 happened on my first attempt to install Windows. Now it will not move past the "setup is starting" screen, even though the first time I put the disk in this was not an issue. Thank you to anyone who takes the time to read this and offer a solution.
