So I've recently bought my own custom-build PC for the very first time (I'm pretty new at computers), I asked on here and other places on the web about what to get and compiled a list of components I needed.

I live in Hong Kong, so I went to the local computer centre and got a shop to put together the computer I wanted to build through my list I had come up with. Problem is I didn't realise my motherboard did not have built-in wifi (I only had it down as "any LGA1150" on my list). So I went back to the shop and said since this motherboard the guy chose for me (B85M-G) has no built-in wifi could I get a wifi card to put into the computer.

He says that the one slot is already taken up by my video card (GTX 770) and I will have to use a USB Wireless Adapter. I bought one and that isn't working out great so I need to go back and get a stronger one.

I'm beginning to worry that I'm being played around here, is it true that my mobo (ASUS B85m-G) cannot add a wifi card to it because I have the GTX 770 already plugged in?

If so, what wifi card should I get? Any specific ones? Or should I just look at getting a better USB Adapter?

tl: dr = ASUS B85M-G + GTX 770, can I still fit a wifi card in there too? Or do I have to use a wireless USB adapter?

This is your mobo : https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/B85MG/

The bottom PCI-e x1 slot can take a wifi card since the GTX770 is only a dual slot card.

MAKE SURE that you get one that is PCI-e x1.

Keep in mind that very few lower cost 1150 board have wifi. So it would have needed to be done like this anyway.

So it IS possible to add a wifi card to that mobo alongside GTX 770 then, contrary to what the shopkeeper told me.
