I am contemplating an upgrade. Since I intend to only upgrade the processor, motherboard, gpu and get a decent smps, 35 k rupees(Indian) with an additional 5 k that I might add, I think should be suffice. What should be my best course of action?

I think an intel cpu (at least an i5 - ivy or haswell anything goes) with a decent mobo that leaves room for future upgrades....a solitary pci-e socket should be fine.

As for the gpu an AMD/ATI - r9270x or a r9280 x (something I have in mind for litecoin mining). Would request for best possible build suggestions....

Thanks mate. Do you have any ati/amd options for the gpu in mind?...I am tempted to go in for the r9280x even if I might have to pitch in a lil extra(mantle looks good). Any suggestions?

Yes of course
u Can go for the ASUS p8Z77 V or V PRO
it can cost u around 12 to 15k
the pro is costly
and the processor compatible with the chipset is i-5 3570
though please check the chipset compatibility(saying this because many people dont and end up wasting money and the hardware too)
Hope This Helps !

No do not go for the 3570. No point of going with the previous gen processor when the current gen is about the same price.
Also, no need for a Z77 chipset board with a locked processor, that's just a waste of money. nashdes has the right idea for the build though I would go for this GPU: http://www.flipkart.com/sapphire-amd-ati-radeon-r9-270-boost-oc-2gb-ddr5-graphics-card/p/itmdsbyvhusspaag?pid=GRCDSA4VZQESHBMP&srno=b_1&ref=142224ee-b7b8-4e7e-b40a-057145924553
It's a bit more expensive but it's also fairly stronger.

if u r willing to go above budget then I'll look for ati r9 270x but I want to ask at what resolution u play games?

I looking to bump up to 1920 x 1080 . Isn't the 760 a tad bit better than the r9 270x?

It is a tad bit better but it shouldn't be a really noticeable difference.

I have zeroed down on a xfx r9 270x. My criterion for selection is two fold. One is that it should be able to handle games (everything at high-ultra) at a 1920 x 1080 res and the other is for litecoin mining.

Would you recommend a 760 over a 270x....the performance difference is marginal, isn't it? is the 760 more overclock able?

Cool....The XFX looks pretty darn good. 760 retails for at least 20 grand. I could instead invest the rest in a nice case and smps. ...thanks : )
