i7 4770k
MSI mpower max z87
I can boot at 4.6 Ghz at 1.225v Vcore but I can only have a stable overclock at 1.25v cpu 4.5ghz cpu ,ring 4.4 ghz,Vring 1.22 and Vrin 1.81v.Whatever I do varying all sorts of settings cannot have a stable 4.6 Ghz overclock I have gone upto 1.45v just to verify the strange behaviour.
Am I missing something?
Gone through many guides.Increase of voltage looks like makes overclock worsre.Stock vid 1.024v
Any help is welcomed.I hope this will help others as well with similar problem.
Thank you

There's nothing unusual about not being stable at this frequency.

There are several components involved:
1) CPU (not all 4770K's are equal)
2) CPU cooler
3) Motherboard (to supply stable voltage)

Instead of trying to push the absolute limit, why not settle on 4.4GHz or whatever you can get stable. I run my i7-3770K at 4.2GHz because I can manage that without increasing the stock voltage so it runs far cooler under load.

BTW, for gaming the CPU often isn't the bottleneck so increasing the frequency may not help you at all. As for Video Editing it does, but it doesn't need to be real-time.

Thank so much but I am looking to achieve the 4.6 Ghz because I find it very strange to boot at 4.6 Ghz at 1.225 v and not being able to stabilize this at any voltage, whereas 4.5 Ghz is so easily stable at 1.25 v.
Thank you for your advice and you have a valid point for sure, but this is the challenge of getting the most out of it.
