asus p5q has a pci.express 2.0 support and the card supports pci express 3.0. will there be any lack in performance by the card? in terms of FPS while playing any game?

You will not see a huge decrease in performance, maybe none at all! PCIE 3.0 is rarely used 100% on a graphics card, so you should be safe. Highest FPS decrease will be 5-10 FPS.
