Hey guys,

Building a pc that I can hook up four monitors on, no rendering or gaming just regular use.

Came up with:

AMD Athlon X4 750K
Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-HD3
Club 3D Radeon HD 7770

Can this run 4 monitors and what adapters do I need?

Monitor 1,2 and 3 have dvi and hdmi
Monitor 4 has dvi

You will either need a couple of monitors with display port or two active display port to HDMI adapters to work with that card.

If you are using the computer for things that don't need much graphics power, the easiest way to set up more than 2 screens is often just to use a pair of low end cards, they can each feed 2 screens and the board you have selected has 2 PCI-e slots so you can run two cards without issue. A pair of 6450s will run two screens each without issue, and will likely cost you notably less than a 7770 and adapters.

with the two active adapters it will cost 40,- more. If I get 2 6450s could I just use the 2 hdmi and 2 dvi ports and setthe 4 monitors in eyefinity?
Also have a matrox triplehead2go dp edition could I hook 3 monitors up on that one and the 4th on the dvi on the card(when taking the hd 7770?)

would it be better to get 2 of these xfx active dongle with the hd 7770? If this works best(getting one big desktop) I'm willing to pay 40,- more.

Don't think setting it up with the triplehead2go is a good option either because I would need the hd 7770 and a mini dp to regular dp.

So would this be the best setup?

hd 7770 mini dp->mini dp to dvi->monitor1
hd 7770 mini dp->mini dp to dvi->monitor2
hd 7770 hdmi->hdmi cable->monitor 3
hd 7770 dvi->dvi cable->monitor 4

I would consider getting 6970 x2 then you will spread most of the use over two cards instead of one if you aren't gaming you won't need a high end gpu and saved you A LOT of money.

Two hd 6970s are more expensive than one hd 7770(90,-)

I wouldn't run 4 monitors on 1 card, personally since you aren't gaming or rendering then you don't need such an expensive card. either get two 5xxxxs. It's more about saving you money rather than wasting it on a card that won't be fully utilized and it saves a bit of money I guess didn't realize 6xxx's were still so expensive haha!

Do two hd 5xxx or 6xxx even support 4 screens (want one big desktop)? can also get an a8 6600k with a hd 6670 in hybrid crossfire and hook up 4 monitors(3 on mobo and 1 on gpu)? this saves me 70,- compared to the hd 7770 with 2 adapters.

It seems to support multimonitors as Eyefinity is compatible with them.

It's really up to you, I would go for 7XXX since it's cheaper to get two lower end card and the fact you are using it for leisure not gaming you won't have to factor in cost for a high end card and putting 4 monitors on 1 it's less stressful when you spread it over 2 cards.

alright so what do you think about the hybrid crossfire option and does it work with 4 screens? Do 2 hd 6450 give the same eyefinity experiense as a hd 7770(one big desktop no duplicated desktop) and do I need to set them up like:

gpu 1 hdmi out-> hdmi cable-.>monitor1
gpu 1 dvi out-> dvi cable-> monitor2
gpu 2 hdmi out-> hdmi cable-.>monitor3
gpu 2 dvi out-> dvi cable-> monitor4

I think I like the hybrid crossfire best so if it works do I need to set it up like this:
mobo hdmi-> monitor 1
mobo vga -> monitor 2
mobo dvi-> monitor 3
gpu dvi-> monitor 4

The site of amd says the apu alone supports up to 4 screens, if I get a mobo with 4 monitor connections(one will always be mini displayport) and get that xfx adapter will I be able to connect 4 monitors on the apu alone?

Thanks for you're help but I'm ordering a hd 7770 just to be sure it supports 4 monitors in eyefinity. The pc is not for me but for someone I know that needs it for his business so I need to be sure and money is not that big of a problem.
