Gigabyte R9 280x, how good is it?

Solution

It is a bit on the louder side (45 dba) under load.
Runs cool, max temps abt 70C

The 280X isn't really worth it right now, it is basically a 7970 GHz Edition overclocked a tiny bit. It isn't really much better, but for 302 pounds, you can get a 290X or 780, depends on your system and have a great experience. I think that the 280X is a very good choice, but you should wait for a price drop.

R9 280x is comparable to the gtx 770. The gigabyte version is one of the best. It is more than adequate for gaming at 1080p and can handle things at 2560x1600 resolution or even more(depending on what you play). If you got this card at 217, then trust me it is a really sweet deal because it typically sells at 240+.

It's a great card.
Of course a card that cost a lot more money is better, but that card can handle most games at MAX/1080p at 60FPS. For the ones it can't, just tweak the settings.

SKYRIM, for example will run at over 60FPS so a better graphics card won't even matter there (unless you have GPU-intensive MODS).

Your CPU also affects performance. An FX-4100 for example, will run many games slower than an i5-4570.

Thanks for all your replys!

Yeh I have got it for £217 (gb pounds) and now it costs £260 - £290 so got it quite cheap!
Just wondering what it's noise and temps are like really though, for this particular GIGABYTE version?
