Just bought my first SSD (Samsung evo 840 120GB) and it's not working out.
I installed it into my pc, installed the software, yet it is not showing as a proper drive.

Here is a screenshot of it:

How do I fix this so that the SSD shows like an actual drive?

Is there an install disk in the optical drive? Run that.

If I click the install or autoplay I get asked to install Samsung Data migration and Samsung Magician. I have installed both of these programmes the moment I started up my pc with my SSD in it.

The weird thing is though, that both Samsung Magician and Intel Rapid Storage recognise there being a 120GB SSD, yet windows explorer doesn't.

Try re-installing the software and tell me how that goes.

Thanks for taking time to answer my questions, really appreciate it!

Anyway, I just found out the 37Mb drive was the install disk (still had it in) and that the SSD isn't showing up all.
Reinstalled the software as you asked, but no luck.

Whilst rebooting I did find out Bios does recognise my drive. Weird.

That is odd. Just last night somebody was saying that they had that error. Control panel > Administrative tools > computer management > disk management. The wizard to initialize the disk should come up. If not right click on the disk > initialize. Try that.

Thank you that did it!
The initialising was probably part of the trick, but I had to create a new volume on it in disk management for windows to recognise it.
Again, Thank you for helping me out. I was excited to have an SSD and then this happened.
Optimising SSDs for windows.
SSDs are great! The performance boost they give to your system is just amazing. There is however a problem with SSDs. The size of SSDs at the moment very small and rather pricey compared to traditional Hard Drives.A SSD is worth every single bit of... See full content
