Upgrading to Sapphire R9 270x...Newbie question(s)

Solution
Check the power rating on your PSU. If it's not at least 550-600W, you'll need more power (& for more room for future upgrades, consider 650-750W).

Also, check the card to see how many 6-/8-pin PCIe connectors the card takes. Most cards in this category need to be connected directly to the PSU (they draw too much power to go through the PCIe bus). Some cards get by with a single 6-pin; some (like my R9 270) use two 6-pin connectors, & some even use an 8-pin & a 6-pin. Most newer PSUs (especially the modular ones) have 6-/8-pin PCIe connectors already on them, but if need be you can also get Molex (IDE hard drive-style 4-pin) to 6-/8-pin adapters.

It should be OK, although since you have an APU not a dedicated CPU, I would recommend something like GTX 660 or R9 270 whichever is lower in price were you live.

Edit: You should preferably go with an AMD card though, Mantle support can be very benefiting in your case in BF4 and future titles that will support the technology.
