Upgrading my home pc need advise

Hello all,
Could use some advise i built this pc about 3 years ago and it still runs pretty well,
however id like to start upgrading a few pieces to see if i can improve performance (speed, stability).
Id appreciate any help I can get, id like to keep the budget under 500, and i believe my cpu is still pretty good for a older cpu but please let me know if I'm wrong.
I main use my pc for not graphic gaming i.e hearthstone/mtgo , lite scripting power shell etc., and web surfing
Current build :
Board :Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. H55M-S2V
Cpu: 2.80 gigahertz Intel Core i7 860
Hard drive: drive ST3500820AS
Ram: 8152 Megabytes ram patriot pc3-10700(667 mhz)
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS
Os: windows 8

I would most likely replace RAM and graphics then add an SSD......

Your MB is only PCIe 1.1 x16 so really would not be worth it to get a high end graphics unless you want to change MB. The new R7 250x is also a good alternative when it...

I think everything is fine except your graphics card. For $500 you could get a gtx780 and you won't have problems for years. Provided your motherboard can support it.
