alternative power for case fan

my 4 pin pwr fan needs .6 A 12v to run but my cpu does not supply enough current to run the fan so can i connect the 12v(red) and gnd(black)to the psu and the other 2 (speed & pwr) to the mobo? (mobo model asus h87 pro , psu :corsair gs 600)

sure it does, the 12 volt line on the PSU should easily give that off.

The fan header should plug into the 4 pin fan slots on the motherboard. If you don't have 4 pin fan headers on the motherboard get a molex connector converter to 4 pin fan header.

is there any chance by which the mobo will get damaged due to alternative power supply to the fan?

Why would you run an alternate power supply to the fan? The PSU will power a computer fan just fine.

the other 2 pins( speed and pwm will be connected to the mobo so thats y i am asking ..so final answer ..would it cause any problem?
