Okay so I have an MSI FM2 A85XA G65 motherboard and I am not receiving a signal to my monitor after my cpu died from overclocking (I originally received 5 beeps on post signaling a bad processor) so I replaced it. After installing it with no problems I still received no signal to monitor or any post beeps. I removed my ram to check if that was bad and I received 3 post beeps, but upon putting the ram back in I get no post beeps at all. I am trying to see if my motherboard is bad or if it is my psu. I replaced the graphics card already so I know it isn't that. I guess my question is if I get 3 post beeps does that mean my motherboard is ok? Thanks in advance!

Cpu: Richland athlon 760k
Mobo: MSI a85xa g65
GPU: sapphire 7850 or
PSU: 500w
Hdd: Seagate 1tb

Ps...I am getting a 600w psu tonight to try and narrow it down and after that the only part that isn't new will be the mobo.

I just need to understand why I get 3 post beeps with no ram but nothing else, no signal, no post beeps, nothing! Please help! I am desperately frustrated with the results I have gotten so far. Thanks again!

I believe 3 beeps on post means that the RAM is installed incorrectly. Try cleaning out the RAM slot.

After I put the ram back in I get no post at all. No signal, no nothing. Could it be my mobo? I really hope it is my power supply, but I know it isn't my cpu or my graphics card.

The motherboard is fine. I know this is obvious, but it make me think my PC was broken. Plug the DVI/HDMI or whatever you use into the graphics card, not the motherboard.

3 short beeps mean Base 64K RAM failure. Remove all new memory you've added to the computer and put back old RAM If the computer works fine after removing the new memory you're encountering either an incompatibility or defective new memory.

I haven't added any new ram, I was just trying to see what the problem is and hoping it isn't the mobo. I have my monitor plugged into my video card and I just got a new one after replacing the cpu didn't solve my problem. The beeps happened when I removed the ram but not when I put it back in.

Basically I have replaced everything except for psu, mobo, and the ram. When I get home I am putting a new psu in to try and narrow it down to either the mobo or the ram. I guess my question is if I get a post when I remove the ram does that mean my mobo is still alive?
