Basically what the title says. should i get the gtx 690 or the gtx 780 ti. I will be gaming at 1440p and my gpu will mostly be used for extreme gaming, video editing and doing high end projects. To me prices don't matter.

Thank you

:)

Well the 780 Ti is a single GPU graphics card and the 690 is a dual GPU graphics cards which mean it has 2 GPU's inside of one card. But most games support 2 GPU's running simultaneously but there are some older games that dont and you will get better FPS on a 780 ti on an older game but you will get the best FPS on a 690 on a game that does support SLI. Also the 690 has a higher power consumption.

The gtx 690 is significantly more powerful.

Also, Vanilla any game old enough to not support SLI to the extent of not supporting a 690 (remember that even a lot of games that don't support sli support the 690 because of the way it works) are going to be old enough that both cards are going to max the game out quite easily.

Well Need for speed hot pursuit doesnt support sli. And that game isnt that old. But anyway I'd go with the 690 if i had the money

The 690 is kind of like 2 770 2gb in SLI, while it may outperfom the 780Ti quite significantly, I'd go with the 780Ti just because it will still perform extremely well and the 1gb extra VRAM will benefit more @1440p. And if in the future you need more, you'll benefit much better with adding another 780Ti in sli, rather than trying to deal with quad sli by adding another 690, not to mention the cost.

If cost is not an issue then I strongly recommend gigabytes GHz edition as on some games it performs better than a 690. Also one thing to take on mind is ram. Although both cards have 3Gb of ram, the 690 has to share it between two GPUs effectively performing with 1.5Gb of ram. At 1440p the 780ti might perform better, especially with mult-monitor.

Except the 690 has a merketed 4gb of vram or 2gb per GPU. I think you're thinking of the 590.

Most benchmarks I've seen suggest that the 690 performs similarly to two 670s in SLI. although they have thesame gpu as the 680 (and 770).

OH!... I feel a bit embarrassed now. I could of sworn it was 3 Gb. I guess it's best to be corrected than to keep thinking that and telling people the wrong thing. Thanks.
