Hello! Recently I switched to an H60 from Corsair and running prime95 for about 40 mins I got those temps from HWMonitor:

But because I don't know what CPU temp it really matters, in the motherboard tree there is also a CPU temp:

Are they too high or normal? It is not overclocked.

there pretty high core temps if your not overclocking. the H60 isnt really a good cooler for that cpu though... its more a budget cooler solution for an i3.

Maybe if I put two fans in push/pull on the radiator that would be better? I can not afford another cooler right now :(
And because I have a miniITX rig I'm very limited about the cooler height. The other one I can think about is the h80i, would that work better?

it would help but only by about 5'c, still its better than nothing...
you still have 20'c to tjmax so although your temps are on the high side its not really gonna do much in the way of harm short term. but i would recommend if your at stock and thats the best the cooler can manage then maybe a new cooler is in order.
or you could try using a different thickness of paste if you applied a 3rd party brand... different amounts of paste can change the heat profile quite a bit especially if its on to thick or thin. (some cases up to 5'c)

I'm planning to change the thermal paste to MX-4 too. I will mount the cooler again and see if it helps. Also, if not, could you recommend a low profile cooler that is better than the h60?

noctua do a low profile cooler but really it wont give better temps because it to is pretty much on the limit of what it can handle as far as that cpu goes..
a cooler with a bigger rad is what you would be best spending money on but only if your gonna oc or you want a quiet system.
i would recommend you try a cheaper option... ie get some high flow high static pressure fans as more airflow can compensate for lack of surface area on the cooler.
check out toms fan review if you can find it...

Thank you. I read some people with the same combination as mine (i5 4670k + h60) getting better temps, I don't believe that the lack of space in my case is the problem, maybe I put it wrong on the CPU? When I bought the h60 I was already planning to get 2 Gentle Typhoons to do push/pull and a little later get an h80i. Remounting the cooler and changing the thermal paste and fans will do for some time, right? Also, I purchased the K version just so I can overclock it, as it seems the h60 will not handle it, but will the h80i with those fans in push/pull do it?

yes mate the combo of new pase and better fans may well bring your temps down to 60'c if your lucky.

Are you at stock clock speed? Them temps do look a bit high. I would try re mounting it in case its not making a good contact.

Yes Rob, it is at stock speeds. As I said I've read a lot of comments of people with the same setup not getting those temps.
Also, what are the correct temps that I should read? The individual core temps, the package temp, or the CPU temp shown?

Try re mounting it, making sure you get a good contact, dont use too much thermal paste.

I was using the one that came with the cooler, unless I have mounted it wrong I don't know why those temps are so high :(
Gaming it does not get over 60 ~ 65, that's better isn't it?

thing is that cpu should only be pushing 65'c on prime 95 on stock speeds. so for gaming you should be around 55'c max.
its not a huge difference but it will help keep the case noise down if you can run lower temps...
you still have 20+'c to tjmax so its not like your cpu is gonna start throttling, crashing or going pop. so its quite safe to run at them temps its just not ideal.

If I have not mounted the cooler wrong or if everything is working properly, does this have anything to do with the thermal paste intel applied? I've read people deliding their CPUs to apply ther thermal paste.

Yeah It can do if theres a big difference between the temps of the different cores.

Your temps are nothing to worry about, perfectly within limits, I would just expect them to be lower with that cooler.

So what should I do? Just try to remount it with new paste, get better fans, another CPU cooler maybe? Just delid it is what I'm not going to do.
Since I'm limited with cooler sizes, is there any low profile cooler better than the h60?
Also, the individual core temps is almost the same.
I wish those temps were lower :(

id try remounting first (you will need new paste for this) if that brins mild results add another fan in push pull if theres only 1 already.

I'll do it as soon as I get my new paste, a MX-4. What would be the better way to apply it? Pea size in the middle of the chip?

yes mate... garden pea size not marrowfat thought... if your unsure look up the article on here about how to apply your paste.
me i just dump a blob in the middle. put the cooler on top, rotate it left and right a few times till i feel resistance and then lock it down.

Thank you HEXiT, I'll change my paste and remount the h60 and see what I got. :)

Hey!
Look what changing my paste to MX-4 and remounting the cooler resulted:

That was after the same 40 min on prime95.

Gaming it does not get over 60, max was 55. That's a bit better isn't it? Should I buy new fans too?

swapping out the paste gave you 10'c adding another fan may drop the temps by another 5 but your not far off what you should be getting so its up to you whether you want to spend the extra cash on a fan.

Even if those fans are two Gentle Typhoons? I think they compared to the stock h60 fan, and in push/pull will outperform it by more than 5c, wouldn't it?

its a combo of air flow, air pressure and surface area of the radiator. the higher the air flow the more potential cooling
