Can i use 2 types of sticks?

I right now have 6g of ram and 2 sticks of ram. I am getting a new mobo and i also want more ram (probobly 4g). So my new mobo (Asus Z87-A ATX LGA1150 Motherboard) Has color coded ram slots, does this mean i can use my current sticks, plus two more sticks?

genrally you shouldnt mix and match ram, especially if its different timings. but if its the same brand, timings and latency there shouldnt be much in the way of issues.
mixing ram can cause your MMU (memory mangment unit) to overheat and may eventually cause the cpu and or ram to fail...
so try to by more of what you have already rather than a different brand.

Ok, can i just replace the ram sticks? If i should, can you give me any suggestions on ram sticks 8-10g that are good and are very affordable? Thanks!

replacing them completely isnt an issue mate, just pull the old and replace the new. then go into bios and set the ram up manually to its correct speed as it will likely default to 1333 or there abouts for first time booting.

there isnt much difference in performance between say ddr3 1600 cas8 from corsair and ddr3 1600 cas8 from kingston. often less than 1% across most brands across all speeds. so if looks aint important get the cheapest you can find with a heat spreader on it.

just get the cheapest ddr3 1600/1866 with the lowest latency you can and you'll be sorted.

Ok i think i have this all sorted out, but i was wondering, i found this stick (4g) on Newegg, i am wondering if it is a good stick. Is it? If it is i think i will get three of them.

Edit: Wait, i just found these two 8g sticks for $160. I think i will get them if they are good. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231568
