I recently purchased a new Lenovo y410p laptop and it has the GT 755m installed and is running Windows 8.1. By default, it shipped with the 327.62 driver but newer versions are available. I went to update it and ran into problems and now am confused.

I thought I had completely uninstalled the old driver. Installed the new driver (332.21) and none of my games would load. The games were set to launch using the nvidia graphics so I switched it over to the intel hd graphics (4600) and the games would launch and play fine (albeit, not as high quality as with the dedicated card).

Anyway, I uninstalled the new driver and to my surprise the older nvidia driver was there when I restarted the laptop. So I uninstalled that one through the control panel and tried to find any other piece of nvidia files and folders and delete them by hand too. Also ran CCleaner. Nope, the driver is still there.

I went into the device manager I tried to uninstall the actual gpu from there but with a minute or so it was reinstalled with that driver automatically. Where in the world is this driver and how can I get rid of it? I'd ideally like to not have to wipe my drive although that is an option. I just want to be able to update my driver eventually without having the conflict of both drivers there.

Thanks

Did you install the drivers from the LENOVO site for your laptop?

The proper ones I believe are 05 Dec 2013 and version 9.18.13.2762:

You can't use ones from the main NVidia site. They have to properly support OPTIMUS.

There are other drivers that may need to be updated as well such as the Intel Main Chipset and Intel video etc.
