I like to keep old games and movies on my computer. I don't necessarily need them all the time, but I just like the idea of being able to quickly grab them when I need them, without having to find my external storage and plug it in the computer...

But I'm wondering if keeping them on the HDD would make the HDD die faster?
Or it doesn't matter?

Just make sure you leave@20% of the drive unused,Windows doesn't play nice with totally filled drives.
