This is very strange, I started my computer as usual and it went into drive recovery mode. That fails over and over. It basically asks me if I want to restart again or try advance options. In advance options, refreshing pc gives the same error. Safe mode, same error.

So, I opened command prompt and decided to check my drive status with DISKPART and that's where things get strange. It shows that my system restore partition is now the C drive and the partition that has windows installed is now the D drive. How weird is that?

I've tried using DISKPART to change the drive letters back but when I restart, it goes into the same recovery error and the letters get switched again.

So, I ran bootrec/ScanOs and it says 'total identified Windows installations: 0'

That there has to be the problem. Can anyone please offer some help here? I have no idea how to fix this. I would be forever grateful.

Did you try bootrec /fixmbr ?

I am currently having the same problem with a friends PC. And after attempting the repair a few times like other posts suggested. it still doesn't boot. The 100MB drive Windows 7 created is now my c:\ and my Windows installation located on what is now being assigned drive D:\. Any suggestions would be appreciated b4 I dig thru all my external hard drive and located a paragon image that I hope I created when I originally finalized his Windows Load a year ago. Then I will update his drivers and software and restore his data
